Rolling Meth Lab Arrest - 2/6/12

On Monday (2/6/12), Deputies Patrolling the 2400 block of Hamilton Road observed a tan 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier being driven by a subject known to be wanted by the Troup County Sheriff’s Office for Violating a Temporary Protective Order. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Christopher Calvin Broach (age 41, or LaGrange).

After confirming the driver’s identity and warrant status, Broach was placed under arrest. Incident to the arrest, a search was conducted of Christopher Broach and his vehicle. Three bags of suspected Methamphetamine were found on his person. Upon being placed inside a Patrol vehicle, Broach advised Deputies that he “need(ed) to ‘Burp’ the ‘Brain’ of (his) meth lab, before it blows up”.

Troup County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Investigators notified the Troup County Fire Department, as to the seriousness of the situation, and requested their assistance. Drug Unit Agents located three “Brains” and released the gases from their containers. The rolling meth lab was dismantled at the scene, due to the risk of a possible fire and/or explosion while being transported. A fire started by one of the containers being dismantled was quickly contained and extinguished without further incident, by the Troup County Fire Department.

Christopher Calvin Broach was then transported to the Troup County Jail. He is presently being held on charges of Violation of Family Violence Orders, Manufacturing Methamphetamine and Possession of Methamphetamine.
