Saturday, 9/10/11 at approximately 2:00pm, the Troup County Sheriff’s Office
Dive Team responded to the Liberty Hill Access (Boat Ramp) of West Point Lake in
reference to a report of a possibly submerged vehicle.
A boater reported to 911 that, while in his boat (near the ramp), he discovered what appeared to be a submerged vehicle. After the Dive Team arrived and entered the Lake, they recover...ed a newer model Dodge Avenger approximately 20 yards from the shoreline. The vehicle was secured and towed safely from the Lake.
Further Investigation revealed that the vehicle was possibly stolen out of Fulton County. The motive for leaving the vehicle in West Point Lake has yet to be determined. Nothing further to report, as this Investigation continues.
