TCSO's McGruff Enjoys a "Special Day with Special People"

The Troup County Sheriff's Office Joined in on the US Army Corps of Engineers' "Special Day for Special People" at West Point Lake’s Rocky Point Recreation Area. Children, the Crime Dog and adults were snacking on hamburgers, taking scenic boat rides and enjoying the interaction with one another.

Contagious emotions brought out through laughing and smiling, singing and talking, moving and dancing - even though some faced minor challenges - No one seemed to mind.

Since 1978, the US Army Corps of Engineers has put on the event for thousands of people with disabilities on the first Thursday in October.

From petting zoos to inflatable party rooms, more than 50 volunteers and 600 people from schools and centers across Troup, Heard and Muscogee counties and other parts of Georgia and Alabama found a good time at the event.

Sheriff Turner, McGruff and the entire crew at the Troup County Sheriff's Office were flattered to received an invitation to take part in this "Special Day". We all look forward to the next "Special" event!!!
