As of 10/1/2011 (Saturday), the Troup County Jail will only be receiving incoming mail for inmates in simple postcard format. As a result of the new policy, the elimination of standard (envelope) mail will cut down on the cases of contraband occasionally encountered when this type of mail is received at the Jail.
From this point, any standard (enveloped) mail received will be returned to the sender with a note of rejection, advising the sender of the new policy change, from the Troup County Jail staff.
The new change in policy does not effect the way that outgoing mail (from inmates, to loved ones) is processed at the Troup County Jail. Outgoing mail will remain unchanged. Standard (enveloped) letters will continue to be acceptable when sending mail abroad, from the Jail.
